OCTOBER 1944, after the failed "Market Garden" operation, the Western Front is relatively calm. The Germans, unlike on the eastern front, where they are desperately trying to stop the advance of the Soviet Army, are stationed along the German border with good defenses and veteran units on alert. It is obvious that they are far from giving up and that they are capable of withstanding, at least for the moment, a war of attrition. While waiting for the next offensive, clashes followed one another along the front that runs from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
