WWI Blue Max or Pour Le Merite. This was Imperial Germany's highest award for bravery. Instituted in 1740 by Frederick The Great, the Pour Le Merite has been popularized by it's association with the famous German flying Aces of WWI, notably Manfred von Richhofen. This is the finest copy of this famous award available today. Finished in vivid blue enamel as per the genuine item and finished in matt gold plate. The eagles between the arms of the cross are carefully pierced and even the extra engraving on the wording 'Pour Le Merite' has been accurately reproduced. Offered complete with suspension loop, correct black and silver woven ribbon and box.
