A more elaborate pattern of the dress aiguillette was introduced on 29 June 1935 (HV 35, No. 334) initially to be worn only with the dress tunic of the dress uniform. The previous pattern and the adjutant’s dress aiguillette were abolished. An order dated 9 July 1937 (HV 37, No. 835) prescribed the wear of the dress aiguillette for officers and officials with officer ranks under the following circumstances:

  • Always worn with the parade dress at parades in presence of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces (Hitler) or at parades held in his honour on his birthday (20 April).
  • Always worn with the formal dress uniform.
  • With the parade dress at formal occasions, when so ordered.
  • At ceremonial occasions with the formal and informal dress uniforms.

The dress aiguillette was also worn with the black parade dress of the armoured troops at the above-mentioned occasions. However, it was never worn on the greatcoats.
